An End to End Digital Solution

The Opportunity

Traditional Hollywood casting processes generally utilize a lot of manual labor. Talent representatives and portfolio management apply a fair amount of physical record-keeping and rely on package drop-off submissions in-person at casting offices for Hollywood gigs. Thus, a significant need to digitalize the casting submission process was generated.

Enter our client: a pioneer casting platform used by major Hollywood studios and casting offices that offered a talent and online roles database to simplify the job search and submission process.

The Approach

We were hired, as an extended team, to fully own and build an offshoot of the client’s main platform that was accessible to all actors/actresses worldwide. Our team was involved in the brainstorming session to whiteboard the business problems and opportunities in the casting submission process.

This included involvement in several process design conversations, writing functional specifications, making the project discovery and research for options, developing website’s wireframes and prototypes, and design, development, and implementation of the digital solution from end to end with ongoing maintenance support and enhancements.

The Solution

The solution developed was an online membership subscription program for worldwide talents to apply for Hollywood’s acting opportunities. Specifically, it was an online platform that allowed for listing of roles/jobs and subsequent matching, included a talents and agents/agencies relationship management portal, created and managed multimedia talent portfolios, and simplified online package submissions for roles. Some of the critical components of the solution were:

  • Headshots, audition videos, and resumes management
  • Multi Terabytes audition videos processing with auto-scaling
  • Promotions engine and personalized marketing newsletters
  • PayPal payment integrations for regular and recurring payments
  • Back office management for Customer service support
  • Sophisticated roles to talent matching algorithms
  • Dynamic open call page generations with complex logic
  • 24/7 solution health check and monitoring

Our team developed and supported the solution for more than a decade, which ended up growing to 100K+ active subscribers before another investor acquired the offshoot platform.
